I just put my Clifford Remote Start System III in this weekend on my 94
Dakota, and I didn't have to mess around with any key like that. There was
a notice in the box that stated (I'll paraphrase here)...When installing on
a vehicle with a GM PASSKEY or VATS Interface, you must measure the OHM
resistance of the vehicles key then use one of the enclosed resistors for
the value recorded. My 94 doesn't have that, or a magnetic key either, so I
didn't have to use them. What Make/Model/Year is your Dodge? I don't know
if the newer Dodge vehicles came with anything like that, so hopefully
someone else can help you there!

Good luck!!

Subject: DML: Remote Start Key question

Hello all,

I received a remote start unit for christmas and finally got around to
having it installed. When I talked to the tech to make my appointment to
have it installed he gave me two bits of information that confused me (A)
Dodge has a special key that emits a frequency that allows you to start the
truck and to bypass this it was going to cost $100 extra (B) to perform the
feat he was going to destroy one of my ignition keys I have never heard any
mention of this before.

Any info would be appreciated.

Dave
