The 4.7L V8 has many options. If you really want an auto trans then you can
choose a standard 4 speed transmission or the new DC trans first introduced
in the grand cherokee. Basically, it has 2 second gears, and it selects the
proper 2nd gear based on your driving.
Options on the transfer case are: Your good old part-time 4wd transfer case
and the new full time transfer case (not avail in 5 speeds). The major
difference between the 2 transfer cases is the old part-time case you have
shift into 4wd when the roads are bad and, more imprortantly, you have to
remember to switch out of 4wd on dry roads or you'll destroy the case. The
new case has a full time 4wd option, where you shift it in and forget about
it.
