Re: Gibson, Borla, or Flowmaster; which is most quiet?

I have the Flowmaster DeltaFlow 3-chamber (50 series) on my Dak with the
3.9V6, and I -hate- it. The thing is raspy (more so than the engine
normally is :-) and has a HUGE resonance at between 1800RPMs and
3400RPMs. Unfortunately, that's where the truck runs at both on the
highways and on the city streets, so it never stops being annoying.

However, my goals might be different than yours. I want less back
pressure to create more horsepower, not because I want to have a rumbly
exhaust. Also, you may have different results if you've got a V8, as
they naturally have a lower resonance.

Still, I'm considering removing the FlowMesster and putting dual stock
mufflers on (single pipe back from the catalytic converter, to a Y-pipe,
to dual mufflers, to dual tips). That should be quieter, and still
provide lower back pressure.

One more suggestion: if you DO have a V6, don't run dual exhaust and
don't run pipes larger than 2.5" diameter - you lose to much back
pressure and lotsa low end torque.
