After the engine has had it's "Break-In" period. Even Amsoil has than in
their manuals. 1500 miles is a good time to switch. You can use whatever
synthetic you want, a lot of what they claim (comparison testing) is either
done in their own labs (not independent) or noted from their "calculations"
of the oil formula. Redline, Amsoil, Royal Purple, & Mobil-1, seem to be
the choice from the posts.

Got a friend that just bought a new Dakota. He wants to run synthetic oil
in it. When should he put the synthetic in? First oil change? How many
miles? Any synthetic oil prefered over another?
