Yes it is true that a hacker can own your system, BUT you can put up a
firewall(a piece of software) that will prevent that from happening. I've
had a cable modem for a year now. Never been owned.. I have both a
workstation, and a server(which runs my website) patched to the CM. I use PC
Firewall from McAfee and a very locked down NT server with MS Proxy. It
keeps the riff raff out. Look at it this way, you are more likely to get
hacked by going to a webpage...
