Last ticket I got (New Years day, 6:00 AM), the cop got on the
freeway, saw me passing, and decided I must be driving really fast.
So he came barreling up behind to pace me. I saw that one headlight
(he was on a motorcycle) coming up behind me like I was barely moving
(I was doing 68-70), and panicked. He didn't have his lights on- I
didn't know it was a cop. I thought it was some loony with a gun,
disappointed that Y2K was a dud, looking to start his own
Armageddon. I wasn't going to slow down! I'd of sped up, but it was
dark, and I was tired (on my way home from 12 hrs work. I also had
the flu) Passed a semi and moved over to the center lane in front of
it, to let the maniac by. Pulled alongside me and flashed his
lights. He said I was going 74 (was NOT!) I'm fighting the ticket,
but I know I'll lose. The speed limit there is 55, though normally
traffic moves at 70-75. Kinda irks me though- its apparently not
safe for me to go 70 in a truck, so he goes 85 (at least!) on a
motorcycle, without even his police lights on, to tell me so.

On several occasions I've even had the cop turn his blue lights on
before even hitting me with radar!  Must be the stripes.
