Hm. I have a 97 dakota and I did a hanger drop on it. Anyways. if you're
gonna do a hanger. minus well do the shackle mount also. Trust me. It's not
going to be a 45 minute job. Those rivits are nice and snug in there. I
first shaved the rivit's heads off with a dewalt 90 degree grinder with the
hardest wheel I could buy.

Then.. Getting the rivits out is another thing. It is not going to come out
easy. I had to go buy an air hammer and hammer all the rivits out. Some were
very stubborn and took a LOT of effort to come out. Even with the air hammer.
(advise. Buy ear plugs when you work with an air hammer. VERY ear piercing)

Anyways. Since you have everything out. I'd do both hanger and shackle
mounts. Have fun. It took me about 2 hours to do each side. (but then
constant looking for tools and/or improvising took forever)

PS. on the hanger mount. I had to saw off the e-brake bracket and adjust
where the cable went so it would fit in there with the hanger mount. I then
welded it back onto the frame. So... if a shop offers to do it for about 50
bucks. I'd hand them the money right away.

<< Quick questions:

Does anybody make just a shackle kit for a 92 Dakota
CC? I was thinking about going with a 2" drop shackle
and a 1" block with a 2 or 4 degree, not sure, shim.
I got to crawling around this weekend and I really
don't want to have to drop the gas tank to get that
one hanger out...can you grind and drill out the
rivets? If grinding and drill is not to terribly time
consuming, then I will go with a hanger shackle kit.

 enough rambling.

 TIA. >>
