Those little Civics have the 1.8L VTEC engine, and they do a real
Jeckle-Hyde thing between the "off-idle" cam and the "high-end-power"
cam. The RPM switchover is like 5800rpm on/5400rpm off, so the little
thing has to do a lot of windup before it becomes interesting. My V6
Dak will kill a Civic off the line, but gets edged out in the 1/8mile
and just eaten alive in the 1/4.

Some of the streetable Civic turbos I've seen are pushing around
10-12psi and turning repeatable 250HP pulls on a dyno (when the VTEC
kicks in). He probably didn't have a turbo, or at least not a very big
one. I wish Chrysler made a block/crank that was proportionately as
strong as the Honda blocks. I still think a Turbo Dak would be a killer
combo (good off-the-line torque, lotsa boost for the higher rev's).
