I was told that the factory electronic ignition systems were of the capacitive
discharge variety and that this is why/how they produce more voltage (than
input) to the primary windings in the coil. I also was told that MSD helped
Mopar develop the system way back when. Who knows for sure? I looked for the
source (probably MML) but haven't found it. Will post it if I come across it
again.

Cool! This is the exact kind of evidence that I was looking for. Don't you
just love the scientific method 8-). Thanks Bernd for your input.

I have read it and you left a big part out - add to the above "unless it can be
proven the added part caused the damage in question". And we all know that an
ASE certified (as well as all of Chryslers proprietary certs) mechanics opinion
will weigh more than a non-certified persons opinion. In small claims court it
would be open/shut. You could always have your own certified witness - in that
case - the judge would probably render a split judgement. It really depends on
who your warranty was with. Have you ever dealt with third-party warranty
claims people? They are brutal.

Thanks again,

Shane
