At the track, you do not have a choice as to whom you'll be matched against,
especially in test & tune. Most of the time, I ignore the vehicle in the
other lane and do not know who's there. The observation in my message
was made because someone pointed out that it was a '00 with the 'new'
engine (165hp, I believe).
As for on the street, you could say that I almost NEVER race ANYONE on the
streets.
