Ahh which Porsche? A 911 and Boxster uses a horiziontally-opposed 6cyl
engine.. aka "pancake". The 928 was Porsche's first foray into water-cooled
engines(and was a 4.5L 16v SOHC v8). This engine also featured the world's
longest (Gilmer-type and toothed) timing belt in a production vehicle - it
measures nearly 7 feet if laid out! But anyways the 911 Turbo came out in
'75 as the Type 930, and that had an air cooled Boxer flat 6.
