Well I have decided to replace all 3 u-joints on my truck's front
driveshaft. I am going to attempt to drop the front driveshaft this
weekend(weather pending) and take it in early this coming week, hopefully
Monday morning. I am taking it to the driveline shop which rebuilt my front
cv joint axle. The front driveshaft has a rear "cv style" u-joint assembly,
where it connects to the tcase, and it utilizes 2 u-joints here. Since it
has the rear cv style, there is some extra 'support bearing/assembly(I
didnt really catch what the tech told me) which will also need to be
replaced. I was quoted $100 for parts and labor; this includes the taking
the old 3 u-joints out, installing the new ones, replacing the 'special cv
style assembly' and greasing everything up. I really like the shop and the
quality of products they produce....so hopefully my clunking noise will be
gone, I will keep y ou all updated.........
