You just answered the question. The heat riser helps get the vehicle up to
operating temperature faster...that's part of emissions. (Cold engines run
richer and produce more emissions.)

warmth from the exhaust manifold to get the truck up to Operating
Temperature sooner... simple fix, tho =) I just don't see how it effects
emissions...
