There's an old saying: "If it sound too good to be true, it usually is." Last week I placed a post in regards to how I might improve my V6 mpg. One person sent a post containing the web address of a company selling platinum intake adapters. They claim if this adapter is attached to the intake portion of the engine, you will see a 22% increase in gas mileage. The theory is that platinum improves the burning efficency of gas and that catalytic converters have a platinum coating to absorb, or burn off, any fuel left over before it leaves the exhaust portion of a vehicle. They claim the catalytic converter is a great idea, but is sitting in the wrong place. Anyone heard of this platinum stuff before? If it's true, why haven't automakers installed these OR why isn't this stuff available in stores?
