I just had mine inspected in March and I didn't have any problem with my
homemade air intake (it's a really ugly interpretation of the Quick D or K&N
setup) or headers. My truck is a '98 so I didn't have to take the "dyno" test
and therefore don't know if there is any negative effect on emissions. I don't
think there will be but I thought I'd mention the fact that they didn't test
that.

P.S. I threw my factory box in the truck bed just in case they balked at the
K&N.

I've assumed up to this point that folks with fuel injected Dakotas
having the QuickD type K&N setup on the air intake are OK...is this a safe
assumption?
In my case, I simply removed the factory box, but kept the factory air
intake cover, which has the vacuum line attached to it.
I have the 99 Dak.
Just curious because I live in Massachusetts, and I have my factory
airbox in the basement - just in case (although it would be a pain in the
a@# to change the set-up for inspection).
