Agreed. Big unknown. It's similar to trying to explain
why R/Ts run up to 1/2 second faster on the track than other
identical R/Ts.
I do know that a lot of the older 318s did not really break-in as far
as mileage until around the 10,000 mi. mark. They say that, with the newer
technological advances, tolerances are a lot tighter and break-in periods
are a lot shorter. Who knows.
Do you use cruise control on the hiway? The computer is calibrated
to search out the best mpg in cruise control mode.
