NEW GUY

Hey Folks,

My name is Chip Marshall and I am a 37 yo Navy sailor stationed in
San Diego, CA. I recently bought a 2000 Dakota Club Cab 4X4 4.7.
It has the SLT&SLT+ packages, towing and everything else I can
think of. You can see some pictures of it doing what it does best
at: http://members.home.net/chip2/pages/fun_at_ocotillo_wells.htm.

I love the truck. It's fast, comfy and the Infinity sound system
effectively drowns out road noise. It has the towing package and
HD suspension so I have to put 300 lbs worth of sand bags in the
bed to keep it from bouncing on California's f___ed up highways.

I put the K&N oil filter and filter charger in last week and, so
far, have seen about a 1 MPG gain. It seems to go a little faster
too. The guy at the local Kragan told me to reset the onboard
computer if I had trouble idling after I installed the filter
charger. To reset is I had to take the positive cable off of the
battery for about a minute and put it back on. Start the car and
the computer resets and adjusts everything. It did idle a little
rough and I did reset the computer and it cleaned everything right
up. I tried this trick on my wife's Exploder, which seemed to
need a tune-up, and it made worlds of difference.

Where do I get parts and kits for this truck? It did real well
out at Ocotillo wells, but still bottomed out a few times. (I'm
glad I bought the undercarriage shroud) I would like to put a 3"
lift kit on it and some bigger tires when the present ones wear
out. The tires aren't a problem, but anything that goes on the
body or in the engine seems to be non-existent. I would like to
get an ignition kit also, but can't find one of them either. I am
waiting on e-mail responses from Jacobs and Holley now. If you
guys have any ideas, please let me know.

Anyway, glad to be here, glad to be anywhere.

See ya in the sand.

Chip
