My 99 318 ran at just under 1/2way (210) with the factory t-stat, went over
210 in summer heat with a/c on. Do what most of us already have, and swap it
out for a 180, but no lower. Now with a 180 stat,my truck runs 1/2way between
130 & 210, only climbs to 190-200 in heat.
As for lowering 2", I'm using Ground Force cast iron blocks, and didn't even
have to swap the shocks or shave the stops. I highly recommend them. DON'T
get Belltech or any other aluminum blocks, they'll last about 6 months &
crack. I know, been there, done that! My iron blocks have been in since
Dec.98 along with traction bars & spring clamps. All show no signs of wear at
all, and the truck handles great. No pinion angle problems either. Hope this
helps.
