Alan,
Yes. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor have been ruled out. Going to check
compression tonight, but really don't expect this to be the problem either.
I've been wondering if something has accumulated or lodged on the flywheel
blocking the signal to the crankshaft position sensor? I can't think of
anything else to mess up just one cylinder.

Have you swapped another plug into that cylinder to rule out a bad plug?
It might have a crack or other flaw that isn't visible.
