The common wisdom in the mechanical circles I've frequented say that if you
use a GL-5 synthetic, Mobil 1 for example, then the friction modifier isn't
necessary. I ran a LSD in a Dana 35c rear axle on my Jeep using only Mobil 1
and it worked just fine. Does the manual really say to use both?

The friction modifier is available at the dealers here locally in Dallas.
