RE: Gas Mileage Results/My Project MPG

I decided to spend this Sun. afternoon doing back to back gas mileage
test runs, I knew that the test results from yesterday were inaccurate
due to the heavy wind and rain. Today was a much better day for testing,
70`F, partly cloudy and light winds, which is almost identical to the
conditions of the previous tests.
1st drive: 22.61 mpg.
2nd drive: 22.63 mpg.
This equals out to a + 1.73 mpg increase.
I decided to do the test this way because, there are way too many
variables incured in "real world" or "city" driving !
The fact that I had already switched over to a full synthetic motor oil
when I did the "stock" test may have been a factor in the initial test
results.
I may do a synthetic conversion to the transmission and transfer case in
the future using Red Line Synthetic C+ ATF (7176) but, I doubt that this
will make much of a difference because, ATF's are designed to create
friction, so using a "more slippery" ATF would cause slippage. The only
benefits could be lower operating temps. and longer drain intervals.
Anyway, it's a fact that resetting the computer after installing the K &
N and DynoMax cat back got better gas mileage results than when trying
to let the computer adapt.
