The answer is definitely YES.

The cat on my 89 Dakota went at about 110,000 miles.
Only symptoms were a noticable loss of power going
uphill. No rattle, no error code.

Problem was discovered by the dealer. Once
replaced, the additional uphill power was very,
very noticable.
