I'll tell you what causes battery corrosion, it comes from turning your
ignition on/cranking your truck with your accesories
on(air/fan,radio,lights,etc.)when you turn on the ignition switch(not as
bad) or crank your truck(worse), the power jumps from the pos(+) to the
neg(-) side of the battery and the reaction causes the corrosin
toform.Learned this from a mechanic for mercedes benz.Wy father used to have
a MB sedan with a diesel engine in it and he wouldn't turn off his
accesories before he would crank it.The diesel pulled a lot of power to
start, so the problem was exaggerated on his particular car and I used to
have to clean his posts about every other week. The mechanic also told me
that the little felt washers help, but not a great deal.If you could learn
to and remeber to turn everything off every time before you shut the truck
down, you should NEVER have a problem with corrosion. If you do this and
still have a corrosion problem, you might have a short in your electrical
system somewhere. The best thing you can do, since you already have corrosin,
is to clean the posts really well with a wire brush and coat them with
dielectric grease before replacing the connectors.Hope this helps, Will
