RE: R/T snobs, was All R/T'ers

Oh please... You guys just kill me.

I for one must be the biggest betrayers of all, because I stick
up for the 'Dakota' owners out there. I have had more
than most (6 to be exact). I've had 3 RTs... I now have 1 RT,
and 1 4x4 Sport (which I have made into a 4x4RT)...so I am
hated by both sides I guess. Some people won't say it to my
face, but they do complain that I push my 'wifes' 4x4RT as
a 'prototype'. Something that Dodge could have built. It
has everything option wise an RT would have (except it has a
5.2L which is clearly has badged) And actually, Dodge has made
a 4x4 RT (5.2L too) in Brazil, but without 17" RT wheels, which
my wife's Truck has-- and the same size tires at the Durango RT.

Anyway...

You guys are complaining about an event that had nothing to do
with 'Dakotas'. It was an event for people with limited production
vehicles, to go out and experience something extraordinary. Would
you expect the Ford Lighting Group to invite all F150/250/350s to attend??
Probably not. Now, that's not implying that there's anything wrong
with a Dakota vs. an RT... It's just the fact that they are different,
by Name and a few options, but they are still different.

Now, aside from that, there's only a few regional meets a year that
are geared towards RT Dakotas, and 1 National meet. I for one am a
board member on the RT Club, and frankly, don't read a whole lot of
the crap that flys around. Most of it just doesn't interest me, or
the decision is already being made, etc. No different than things
on the DML, etc.

I have started a web page, and once it is completely up, will
feature ANY and ALL Dakotas... though it will be geared towards
Horsepower & handling, rather than how many loads of sand you can haul
a day in the bed of your Dakota.

www.socaldakota.com

For those of you who want to go head to head against some of the fastest
RT Dakotas in the West (he he)... Come down to Phoenix Arizona (Chandler to
be exact) Oct 7-8th for the Truckin Nationals... I am getting a Caravan of
sorts together to head over from San Diego... ANY and ALL Dakotas are
welcome
to join in.. Though we ask that you have a 2-way Motorola Radio if you plan
to
fly over with us...Plus it makes the drive a lot of fun to boot.

So, Mark... Wanna go up against my 300 hp RT??? You'd probably win, but
there's a
guy I know in Phoenix that's in the 12s, plus his buddy with a '96 5.2L
Dakota
is ALSO in the 12s... Last year we had 4 RTs, 1 Dakota Sport in our group
(with
a few others that were mostly into run a few then show the rest of the
day)...it
was a lot of fun. THIS year, it's going to be DAKOTA Crazy...

Sam '00 RT (300 hp at the crank baby!)
