<< Class III is only rated to 5,000 lbs...our Daks weight just about
that, my standard cab is just over 5,300 with Carolyn and myself
inside of it.>>
The hidden hitch class III front mount bumper is rated at:
Weight Rating: 9000 LBS. LP / 300 LBS. TW
<<You get stuck in any kind of mud and two things are going to
happen:
1) Darn how am I going to get this 110+ lb item inserted into
that receive hitch that is under 3 inches of extremely unpleasant
mud>>
This problem can be easily overcome by a little advance planning. Everyone I
know hooks their tow ropes up to the truck before they get in the mud.
Common sense would dictate you do the same with the winch
<< 2) Ok I made it past number one...now why is my receiver mount
twisting and pulling funny ( do not forget that means your frame
is twisting and pulling funny also ) when my 8,000+ lb winch
starts lugging down due to all the suction from this darn mud
hole on my 5,000+ lb truck.

Every winch manufacturer I have checked with (Warn, Superwinch, Ramsey) all
recommend that your winch be rated at 1.5x the weight of your vehicle loaded.
So, for your 5000 lb truck you would need a 7500lb winch.
Not to argue..but I have done a LOT of research on this issue. If there is
something I am missing, please let us know.

to cut out the middleman and buy toys for myself
