Avital alarms?

I had the Champion Mark III in my '88, 4 years with very little
problems. I did have a couple of occasions where my battery died and had
to reset it, also had rather poor range, by my girlfriends car alarm has
been trouble free and it is a cheap avital... it was like $175 installed.
