Yeah, I remember this discussion. Maybe because I was one of them. But
I don't seem to have the problem anymore, or if I do, I'm just not
noticing it.

As Tim noted elsewhere, I think it's the slight rust that develops on
the rotors (this rust happens on every car I've seen with discs, even
after only a few hours sitting idle, sometimes without the rain factor
even). Once you've scraped that off with your first stop, everything's
happy.
