Design mainly. I've seen a few Paxton's (and a nasty Vortec) that took a
"dump" and both had broken internals. Both Paxtons retained the parts and
the airflow was only slightly affected/restricted. I've seen a buddy's
Nissan blow a Turbo (Single) and he couldn't even drive the thing...exhaust
wasn't flowing properly.

I don't see much difference.. Exhaust or belt driven, they both
spin aluminum wheels at 100,000 + RPM in the intake tract.
Both are higher risk than no SC at all.
If he needs an engine, check with the guys at midwest-engine.com.
They have thousands of japanese engines and ship all over the country.
