2K Idle Speed; Another Problem (long)

Almost since I bought my 2K club cab (4.7, 5sp, 4wd), I had the idle search
problem that several other DML members have complained of. For those not
familiar with it, whenever the engine is warm and I come to a stop, the idle
climbs to @1000 rpm and falls to @550 rpm. It would occasionally stall on the
downstroke, sometimes at very inappropriate moments, i.e. steep parking
garage ramp with sharp turn and stop sign at bottom. It hasn't stalled in
awhile, but the fluctuation is still obvious. After a couple inconvenient
trips to the dealer and a new engine control module later, the problem wasn't
fixed. They told me months ago that there would be a new flash update program
and/or PCM and I'm still waiting.
Another problem that I have had might be related to the first. When I use
the truck offroad, especially on a rough and bumpy road (constant vibration),
the idle speed will climb to @1800-2000 even when I'm in gear. It almost
seems like the cruise control is activated. Using the brakes does not bring
the engine speed down and the truck accelerates by itself (to 1800 rpm) until
I depress the clutch pedal. With the clutch disengaged, the engine races for
a few seconds before settling down through a couple steps (2000 to 1500 rpm
to 1000 rpm to 650 rpm). I don't believe that the dealer would be any more
successful solving this problem then they have been with the idle search,
particularly because there are no rough, rocky roads near the dealership. I
really love this truck and don't want to give it back to them either. Has
anyone had a similar problem with the 4.7 offroad? The last time I went to
the dealer armed with a list of people with similar problems to convince them
that mine was not imagined or self induced.
