I have had my Dak pulled over or generally picked on for the following:

1) Offroad lights on the grill guard are illegal (even though they had
covers on them)

2) Tires stuck out 1/2" past my Bushwhacker flares

3) License plate cover (smoked)

4) Trailer hitch ball obscurring plate

In all the cases I stated that the truck was inspected whilst having these
items this way...a couple times, the cops' reply was "I can rip that sticker
off of there, son." Every time I have ever been picked on has been with a
Pittsburgh cop.........I had a Dodge D-50 a while back and had 6x9" offroad
lights on the roll bar COVERED and DISCONNECTED........the cop STILL gave me
a hard time........said if he ever saw me again with them on the truck he
would impound it......... :-)

I think it all depends on a) is the cop having a slow day b) did he/she get
layed lately c) did you do something that could be considered "cop
bait"...........

Just say "Yes sir" and be on your way. Show any attitude and you got
problems..........It's tough, but it works.

I am waiting to get nailed for the new 6" Daylighters I mounted to the grill
guard of my Explorer for an upcoming offroad trip.......and I have a tow
hook mounted on the rear bumper, near the plate........I'll probably get
picked on eventually for this stuff...........Technically they ARE illegal
by the codes.....most cops wont care unless you cause a problem with them
(i.e. fire up my daylighters on a public road!).................but some
cops just gotta show "who is in charge"

Look. That's the way it is. There are some cops that are
a#$holes.....problem is, they have the gun and the badge and they can make
your life miserable if you piss them off....... Don't like it? Get a badge
yourself! :-)
