GM's v-6's are this way too. My mom has a jimmy with the 4.3L in it. When I
gun it, it lags then takes off like a bat outta hell. Pretty annoying.

Nate,
My 98 V6 CC 3.55 LSD responds the same way. And I have the QuickD air
intake and throttle body along with a Gibson Split Rear exhaust and
Autolites 3923's gapped at .040". Off line response is horrible. It feels
like there is only a small 4 banger under the hood. Only when the truck
picks up speed (after a couple of seconds) does the engine get more
responsive. From a stop I will floor the gas pedal and I am usually passed
by everyone next to me or I am tailed by the car behind me.
