Dave,
I can tell you that Amsoil is some damn good stuff. I drain the fluid out of
both diffs about every 2 years, and the 2 year old Amsoil looks the same as
the new Amsoil I am about to put in. Just for info, I use Amsoil Series
2000 75W-90 in both diffs. Same goes for the Amsoil ATF in my tcase; same
bright red color every year when I drain it out. For an experiment, you
might want to try skipping the by-pass filter kit and just trying out some
Amsoil oil first. Run it for 6-7,000 miles and drain it out and see how the
color is. My local dealer has a 1985 Toyota 4WD pickup and just runs Amsoil
fluids, never mentioned anything about the by pass kit. He uses their
coolant, engine oil, tranny fluid, gear lube, the whole product line
basically. His '85 4banger Toy has 285,000 miles on the original engine. He
had to put a new clutch in I think he said at about 225,000. Other than the
clutch, stock everything! I would suggest trying the engine oil out first,
then if you are impressed with the oil color, skip the by pass kit and save
some money. Just my suggest though.
