My 4.7, 31X10.5 tires, 4x4, 3.92, automatic, QC, stock gets 14-15 mpg in
mixed city/highway. The terrain here in San Diego is not that flat in
some areas, and it does hurt the average. I did not notice much if any
difference when I added the tonneau cover.
The only time it has been on the highway for any extended time was pulling
a pair of jet skis, bed piled cab high with camping gear, and 4 people on
board in the desert in July. Half of the 150 mile stretch is also a 4000'
mountain pass. It averaged about the same as it does commuting.
Climbing the mountain at 65 with the A/C on (~105 deg. outside) it hit a
low of 4 mpg for a while. No doubt the average took a hit there.
