Andy,

The Intense intake tube is 3" O.D. The cross section area of the throttle
body is a *lot* smaller, but I don't know the actual number. The Intense
solution gets you lots of air, it just doesn't get you the cold air. But if
you're talking about money, you're right - it's a lot cheaper to get some
plastic elbows and pipe, or staying with stock. The stock 4.7 air hat has
suprisingly smooth lines inside.

Looks are one thing. Results are quite another. Look at that Intense
carefully. You're taking a large filter capable of flowing a LOT of
air, and feeding it through a straw. You may as well save your money
and keep the stock setup. Run that setup for a year, pull off the
casing, and look at where all the dirt is - right where the hose lets
out.
