Okay

I've been reading through this topic and saw a lot about the pinging, but I
was more interested in what is causing the clatter. I've got a 96 V6 (Which
is the same as the 97 & up) doing the same thing. Is there a nylon
tensioner for the timing chain that might be worn or something like that?
You should know that one Bernd, seeing how your timing chain is laying
around in your garage somewhere now. :) There is also an occasional
clatter sounds like it might be the lifters, I'll have to give the ATF trick
a try unless some one thinks in would be extremely bad.

Trucks not under warranty.. but I will see what its gonna cost me... My
truck rarely pings I really notice it when I get in 1st gear and get up to
like 3k rpm it pings a bit, then I can slam it... and it will burn the tires
nd the pinging stops...
