With the autos., I had heard that complete replacement is 20-22 quarts
because of the torque converter. I would think that normal recommended
tranny service is fine especially with the change intervals that you use.
Your tranny cooler is probably more important ... every 10F drop adds about
10,000 mi. to the life of the tranny is the generally accepted guide.

If I were going synthetic, I would flush everything out but it would
be expensive the first time.
