Re: Quick-D Throttle Body Response to Tony De Anda

Poor Tony had a day off Wednesday. I'm pretty sure every SoCal Dak or D
owner without an intake paid a visit to his garage. I swung by expecting
to pick up one of his 4.7 intake kits and he went ahead and installed on
the spot for me! Even with a pretty severe backache from saving a coworker
from a falling pallet! Holy hardhat!

I've seen a lot of Quick D TB's on 3.9's, 5.2's, and 5.9's. Good looking
products and these trucks all storm. I can't wait for the 4.7 to start
shipping. The TB's are quality upgrades for a reasonable price. There's
only so much magic you can massage into a stock TB, so I don't want to
throw too much money into one. I know I'm going to get top quality
machining and a man who stands behind his product.

Now as for my ride. It now sports a Gibson dual exit catback and a Quick D
intake. I don't notice much of an impact from the exhaust. I think gas
mileage may have picked up a little and the sound is great.

The Quick D intake is a huge kick in the Buttdyno though. And the sound is
pretty cool too. Not the sharp sucking sound I feared, but the deep growl
of an unsilence air cleaner. Tony says the sound is better than some
because of the larger cone he uses. I read the mileage off the computer on
the way home and it seemed to be about 1.5 mpg higher than normal. I get
pretty week mileage, but this could help me climb up to a respectable
number. It was reading above 19 most of the way home. I have 3.92's, a
club cab, a 300lb pilot, and a lead foot.

It's hard to feel much of a difference off idle. The 4.7 isn't the
strongest here. Above 3000, the motor definitely pulls harder and it
doesn't nose over quick as much. I wouldn't be surprised if I picked up 2
mph in the quarter. It's going to screw me in the autocrosses
though....Won't be able to keep the wheels from spinning coming out of the
turns!

On the way up the hill to my home tonight, I always roll up on the lights
waiting to drop it when the signal turns green. I catch the same light
every night since you go from one red off the freeway to a light four
blocks up which trails it by just a little too much. This time when I
dropped it I broke the tires loose. I've do this every light four or five
times a week and I've never broken'em loose in the dry. Definitely a solid
midrange improvement.

Can't think of a better bang for the buck improvement! Thanks Tony! Now I
need a TB!
