my 318 with the gibson on it was louder definately but it still didn't sound
like a 5.9 in the slightest.

<< True. 360s do have a very slight difference in sound, but you ear has to be
very accute to notic eit, and, if say, a 318 and a 260 both had Flowmaster
40 series muffler, they'd be nearly identical in sound.
