Its a real easy swap. The engines are practically identical with a
couple of small differences (such as the balancing). Its practically a
case of popping the 318 out and dropping the 360 right in its place. I
plan to do this myself someday. (There are several people on the DML who
have done it already, and many folks not on the DML who have.) All you
should need are normal hand tools and a cherry picker. Most shade-tree
mechanics could do the swap in their driveway.
As far as the factory exhaust goes, some people figure "if it ain't
broke, don't fix it". Plus, if he is going for a "factory looking" R/T,
4x4, the stock exhaust would be more correct for the application than
aftermarket.
