Will,

I can only speculate here, because I don't know the P/N's you are using.....
The pistons (I would assume) are Diamonds flat top forged pistons. The Edelbrock heads are approx. 65 CC's.
Using the standard Magnum head gasket, C/R would be somewhere around 11.4/1. I would assume you are
talking about the Fel-Pro marine A-engine head gasket. The head gasket is thicker than the Magnum ( + .010) and
it does have a larger bore diameter (4.130) but this isn't going to drop the compression much. Did you set up the
pistons for zero deck and if not how much did you drop them down in the bores????? The aluminum heads will
offer some relief from detonation, but not much. For any serious boost, a static C/R of around 8.5/1 would be much
better. As far as the rods go, lord only knows which ones you are using. Balance on the bottom end isn't really
a problem. We opted to use the Manley's (less notching inside the block) and they are a heck of a lot stronger
than any factory rod you could come up with. The cam looks good and will be tunable within the factory computer.
I am using the Magnum cast iron heads on my engine and they have been worked over quite a bit. Based on flow
numbers, we opted for the 29 lb/hr injectors and we feel larger would be a waste (non supercharged). If a blower
is really in your plans, I would suggest that instead of using a FMU with the blower, use a separate set of injectors
fired under boost. Both Paxton and Vortech have them. Blower recommendations, I have no experience with the
Powerdyne, but have used both Vortech and Paxton. The Novi and Vortech's offerings are pretty much bulletproof
(gear drive) and generate gobs of boost. Using the injector plate instead of the FMU will allow you to run smaller
primary injectors (better spray pattern) and supplement additional fuel with the secondary injectors. No mucking
around with fuel pressure........

        Good Luck -- Frank

<<<Will,

Be careful there..... If you have cleaned up the heads and are using a
decent intake (M-1) 29 lb/hr injectors is all you
need (310 CC). That's what we are using. I hope you are not using the factory
rods (A-type or Magnums), you really
need to step up to either Eagle or Manley's. Factory rods are not up to
snuff. What pistons are you using????? If they
are Diamond's pistons, then you have a static C/R with the Magnum heads right
up around 12/1 (pumping compression) above 200 PSI unless you have a cam with
a hell of a lot of overlap. Even the soon to be released
KB pistons, static compression is up to 10/1. If you are actually going to
use a blower, use one of the after-market
injector plates and computer (Vortech, Paxton, etc). Smaller injectors (29
lb/hr) will give you a better spray pattern and
the plate will give you better fuel control under boost. Good luck with the
head gaskets.

Frank,
I am using MP connecting rods with MP pistons that have a shorter total
height. The cr is around 9.95:1 (was higher, but the head gaskets we are
using are thicker fel-pro's than normal and the pistons were given a slight
shave on top). The heads are the MP aluminum Magnum heads that were massaged
a little more along with crower 1.6:1 rockers and triple springs. The valves
have had the stem shaved down and the heads swirled. I am going to be
running a Comp Cam pn 20-604-8. It is a 264/274 adv 210/220@.050 duration
with .512/.512 lift with 1.5 rockers and 112 lobe sep. My machinist figures
that lift and duration will work well with the boost from the sc. I believe
it will also, esp with the head work and intake we've done. Oh yeah, we are
going to run the MPI intake. We were doing so cals on the puter and it spit
out 35 lb her injectors, but we figured 36 would be good. Oh yeah,
everything is forged (pistons, crank, rods, etc.....). I got lucky in the
stock market and decided not to skimp on anything. Anyway, which blower?
PowerDyne or Paxton? Novi 2000......sweet........
