agreed, but given the same driving style and maintenance levels I am siding
with the one with the longer design life that's all I was saying. I had
139k on my premag 6 before it crapped big time, the cylinders looked fine
(crosshatch), the rings were worn (blowby) and I did have a small crack in
either the top of the block or the head, I replaced the headgaskets but
never solved the problem in the least, I also never found the crack... all
this with regular 5k oil changes to 60k then 3k thereafter and a lead foot
with a lot of summer time towing and hauling... well for it's first 75k,
then it was just plain beaten on...
Chris
>but...... how many miles were the 4.3/2.8 motors from GM designed for?? mom
>has one with 213k miles, running strong.. then there's the one I saw at work
>today, had 240k miles on it... you can't design life into a motor, it's
>all in how you maintain a motor.
