Did the same thing and have gone through with the order process. I called them
and asked some questions and they defiantly seem ok. You have to use a credit
card at the time you decide to order and it will lock in the "carsdirect"
price. They will charge you $250 but only if they can get what you want (they
will factory order if needed and possible) and you also agree to go ahead with
the order. The $250 comes off of the price of the vehicle when you purchase it.
You also can bail on the deal if they cannot get you the truck for what they
quoted. Told me it doesn't happen very much but occasionaly it does. A dak
should not have this problem only happend when the new beetles came out and the
pt cruiser. I have priced out a 4x2 QC with all of the goodies including the
leather group only thing I didn't get was the 5.9 and the 3.92 gears and it cam
in at a few bucks (less than $100) over $24k. I have checked the msrp they use
at the dealerships and they are right on the money. I have also checked by
cross-referencing on sites that show actual invoice cost and they are again
right on the money if not a little low. If you read the fine rpint about the
"carsdirect" price it states that it includes any dealer rebates in it. I
called and asked if it was going to include the $1k rebate they are having and
was told that I would get that also since it's based on delivery and not on
when it was ordered. They cannot take the rebates off of their price if they
are based when the vehicle is delivered to you. I'm really happy about this
since it gives me more maoney off of the price.
