I've got a 97 dakota v6 auto and it pings (a little)
I have done the 3923 plugs, belly pan gasket, 180 stat, plug wire re-route..
ETC... nothing.
I brought it in to dodge to have the flash issued, and they surely did it.
I don't knonw if this would be a scientific claim on the HP loss issue,
but I DEFINANTLY felt an extra lag in the acceleration. I believe the
retard is only 4 degrees at FULL throttle. Maybe that's why my 1/2 throttle
jolts are faster than jamming down on that peddal.
I ran a best of 17.221 at the track, and with new 1.6 roller rockers, and
jba headers, I ran a 17.8?? after the flash. (with a few variables like
different tires: 275-35-18s on the back, and a wee bit heavier sound system
:) I wouldn't do it. Make them do everything else. I for one wouldn't
re-do that retarded computer reflash.

PS. after the flash, I have to admit the pinging went down a bit, but it's
still there. The problem doesn't lie within the computer's timing advance,
but something else....

I would like some feedback from anybody
here that has had this done.As long as they fix my hesitation
problem,I`ll probably be so happy that I will not miss a few horsepower
lost from the ping flash. But if the flash kills a lot of power,I`ll be
upset.I`ve only got 175hp.
