I mounted mine next to the PCM, right where the cruise control was. I slid
the cc down closer to the front of the fender (had to do that anyway for the
intake brackets). The reason I mounted there was so it was in close
proximity to stock coil. That way, in case of failure, I just unplug and
replug. Connections from the factory wires was done with quick disconnects
just like on your new coil.

Subject: DML: MSD SS Coil install suggestion
I stopped by Checker today and picked up a MSD-8207 ($35). Just a couple of
questions about location and hookup.
1.)Where is the best place to mount these? I have looked at the fender well
by the PCM, the firewall, the stock location seems like it will put off too
much heat.(on the factory coil the coating is flaking off because of heat)
I'm open for suggestions (send links to your installs if possible)
2.)What type of connections are you using to splice into the factory
harness? I want to use either use bullet connectors or those little 3-M
splices to tie it in. this way if and when I sell the truck I can swap out
parts easily. Are either of these methods safe?
Thanks
