No, no, ya sillies! The part I find ridiculous is going to class to
learn to wear a seatbelt! I KNOW the cop could have been much
harsher than he was, and I'm not really mad at him- he didn't cite me
for the turn signal, which I believe him that I didn't have it on,
even though I meant to, and that would have been worse on my record-
plus being a big pet peeve of mine. AND he didn't tow the car, which
he could have.
I think the whole "seatbelt diversion" class thing is sillier than
all get out.
I admit that I am also in a state of constant irritation, as a short
(under 5 foot) woman, that I am forced to put up with safety features
designed for men of average height, which put me in MORE danger. If
you really think having a strap across my throat in an accident would
be a good thing.... I'd rather have a deformed jaw than NO HEAD!!
Fortunately, the Dak belt is adjustable to where it is just safe,
though I could still be killed by my airbag. But since I sit just
far enough to not qualify to have an off switch (unless I lied, and I
dislike doing that), I'll just have to risk it.
Now you got me on MY soapbox....

I think its pretty darn reasonable. Having worked for the police for
a
while...ill side with the cop on this one. The insurance..well that
was
your own fault...even if you dont drive it often. And the
seatbelt? Do you
have any idea how many people die each year in car accidents? And of
that
many, how many could have lived beacuse of wearing the seatbelt...all
of
it..not just the lapbelt. I dont think you would want to live with a
deformed nose, jaw and mouth beacause you litterly ate the steering
wheel.
And if you think im joking...go ask the nearest EMS/Fire/Rescue
personel
about it...maybe youll be lucky and thell have some pictures for
you. Its
just common sense to me.
Sorry everyone for ranting a bit...but having a friend of mine killed
just
yesterday because of this very thing...well..you all get the picture.
Ill step off my soapbox now and let everyone be on there merry way.
