My 98 318 5spd has a 9.25 in it. I learned the hard way while doing a
bearing change on a weekend with the 8.25 pieces in hand already.

I don't know if it'll bolt in or not. Obviously place them side by side for
measurement purposes etc. I've always believed that bigger was better in
the rearend department (of my truck).
