Bye Bye Dakota...

Well, I'm dropping my baby off at the trans shop tomorrow morning. The
culprit? A faulty governor pressure solenoid. Which then nuked my 3rd gear
clutches. Looks like it's going to run me about $1400 to get it rebuilt as
long as it doesn't need hard parts. They say I'll have it back Monday but I
doubt that very much so it looks like I'll be driving my car back home (1,000
mile trip) for thanksgiving. I didn't have time to get a shift kit before
they rebuilt it, but they are just going to do the first fluid/filter band
adjustment and install the shift kit at that time. Atleast this way I know
the trans rebuild is right before they install the shift kit. I really hope
they have it done Monday so I can take it home for turkey day, but we'll see.
Next up is a BIG cooler and then a shift kit at my next ATF service. This
transmission NEEDS to last I can't afford another one, heck I can't afford
this one. Mileage of original failure...106,790
