Hey Wes,
You can use any magnum 3.9L V6 as long as you use your existing wiring and
computer. There are very few differences to the engine itself over the
years, and most of those differences are in the computer and exhaust system.
Shouldn't be too bad of a swap. Just to be safe, you should probably use
your stock intake manifold with the rebuilt engine, that way there's no
questions about any of those sensors or anything wierd like that.

Now, for the buildup =) the #1 thing to remember is DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! Make
sure the parts you select work well with each other and all that stuff. One
good thing about the design of the 6er is that it shares a lot of parts with
the 318. Things like valve springs, rocker arms, pistons, rods, and valves
are all shared with the 318, so those parts are available in a performance
app. You can probably get a hot cam custom ground, but since you don't have
many computer options you may have to keep it mild.
