Hey,Tom- I know durango's with the 4.7L/45RFE and the Durango R/T's offer a
full time/part-time/lockable transfer case-in wich case it would be easily
retrofitted to a current dakota.Check there first if you are serious about a
buildup.

I do love the snow! I just wish I had a 4x4 Dakota that I COULD do a swap
with
heh - Ye Ole 2WD is all I have now. I was thinking of a future project.
heheheh - showin off infronta a Camaro driver... thats mean! THe thing
about
this transfer case swap I have in mind is the center locking diff.
Currently
you can get a dakota with part time or full time 4x4. But the full time
lacks
a locking center diff that the part time has. I dont know if the addition
of a
center locking diff set up would affect the way it bolts to the truck. I
was
thinking "best of both worlds" full time 4WD for when you have less than
perfect roads. And the locking center diff for when ya need to play in the
snow! I want it all! And now after the snowfall and the posts on the
DML...
I'm hell bent on a 4x4. Hmmm - perhaps I shouldn't settle for just a nother
4x4.. maby I should go and ... ahh but I almost gave away my idea for the
Ultimate Dakota project truck... heh... (makes mental note to play the
lottery
tomarrow)
Have fun all you 4 wheelers... damn I envy you!!!
