Steve,
Sounds like a memory problem to me. The typical windows 95 install takes
upwards of 25megs of ram-just to run! So if you only have 16 then your
computer must read from the hard drive(which probably has slow seek time)
then push it to the memory and keep swaping back and forth.
If you can afford it-i would go with at least 64 Megs of ram. Your machine
may also have pipline cache-memory used by your procesor. You can upgrade
that also if there is a slot for it.
My old system was able to do most anything including play mp3's-burn cd's
and it was a p133mhz with 64mb ram and 512k mb cache.
EDO is extented data output-it all should work in you machine-but then agian
you may want to buy it from someplace like best buy where you can take it
back.
You may also want to look into a upgrade processor. Your board may be able
to accomadate and faster processor. Another option is to look into an over
drive chip(basically an upgrade processor) that can turn you machine into a
500MHz for like 160.00 or so. Best buy or comp usa has them. You can also
get this stuff online a lot cheap-but watch out.
